It’s so great to see you here!
All of our clients start with us by booking in for a 1:1 consultation.
This first appointment will take place in our private clinic room, which will enable us to learn about you and your body and create a plan just for you.
This session takes up to an hour and can involve some light movement assessments such as range of motion, balance, strength and aerobic capacity. The movement assessments are chosen based on what we need to understand about your body and current health status. Note: All assessments will be explained before being carried out, and you can refuse any movement screen you are not comfortable with.
After the movement screen is complete, we will run through a proposed exercise plan based on your goals, availability and needs. From there, we will make a follow up 1:1 appointment with you to go through the proposed exercise plan whether that be in clinic, at home or at an external gym or pool facility. In this session we will go through each exercise with you and make sure that you are confident and comfortable.
Following this subsequent 1:1 you can continue with future 1:1 bookings, enter our studio group classes or undertake an independent exercise program at your home or external facility.

We recommend that you arrive 5-10 minutes before class. The door may be locked if a class is scheduled right before yours, but don’t worry - we have a doorbell and will let you in as soon as the previous class has ended.
After passing through our reception area to enter the studio, please leave your belongings in the storage cubes and change out of your shoes and into your socks. We recommend grip socks (we sell these, if you need them). If you need to change into exercise wear our team can direct you to the change rooms.
-
We recommend light, comfortable clothing that you can move in.
For hygiene reasons socks are compulsory in the studio - for safety reason's we suggest grip socks because they can really help with getting onto and off equipment and in performing some of the exercises.

Bowen Therapy
-
Bowen therapy shares some similarities with massage therapy - both are relaxing and can assist with relieving pain - however they are distinctly different practices. Bowen therapy is much more gentle than massage therapy, and is not as hands-on as massage.
Bowen Therapy is holistic in its technique, involves no forceful manipulation and is gentle in its pressure making it a suitable technique for individuals of all ages.
-
We recommend light and comfortable clothing for Bowen treatments. Your session can be performed over light clothing, but if any movement sequences require skin contact, the therapist will strictly adhere to correct draping.
-
During your treatment sessions, your therapist will perform one or more procedures, each consisting of several movement sequences. Movements are seldom performed over the same area more than twice. And between some movement sequences, you’ll need wait time to allow your body to respond to the treatment through your nervous system, adjusting the tension in your muscles. At these times, your therapist may leave the room.
-
Your initial Bowen Therapy consultation will be 60 minutes in duration. Subsequent sessions are between 45-60 minutes, depending upon the nature of your condition and the procedures required.
-
After your treatment session, your therapist will give you an after-care guide. This guide relates specifically to the treatment you have received.
For at least five days after your treatment, we recommend that you don’t receive any other physical work on your body. This will enable your body to effectively process the treatment received.
-
Bowen Therapy aims to address the cause of a problem rather than the symptoms experienced, and so it is not an ongoing therapy. Often you can experience relief following the first session, and many clients experience long lasting results after three sessions.
Be aware, though, that chronic conditions or repeated injuries may require additional treatments. However, if Bowen Therapy does not help to treat the underlying problem, we recommend that you seek the advice of your General Practitioner.
-
After a Bowen Therapy session, you may experience an increase in energy, improved mobility and reduced pain. Occasionally you may experience headaches, increased fatigue, increased frequency of urination or changes at a musculoskeletal level that may alter the symptoms you experienced. All these reactions indicate that your body is responding to the Bowen Therapy you received. All unpleasant reactions should subside within one or two days.
-
Conditions that can respond well to Bowen Therapy include (but are not limited to):
General musculoskeletal pain and imbalance
Respiratory and asthma complaints
Frozen shoulders
Lymphedema
Stress disorders
Neck and head tension
Acute and chronic fatigue
Bed wetting
Digestive problems
Menstrual complaints
Carpal tunnel syndrome
